Andrew Moore was born on 9 June 1758 in York Co. PA. He served in the Pennsylvania troops. He was a PA Ranger in during the war. While living in Bedford Co.PA he volunteered early in December 1776, served as a private in Capt. Clurgich's (probably meant Cluggage) Company, Colonel John Piper's PA Regiment, was stationed at Princeton, NJ, and was discharged March 10, 1777, having served three months, that he enlisted in Sept. 1777, served as sergeant in Capt. William Parker's Company, Colonel John Piper's PA Regiment, and had charge of a detachment which conveyed pack horses over the mountains to Ligonier's Fort near Pittsburg and after his return marched over the Alleghenies under Capt. Parker on a tour against the Indians; length of this tour, two months; that he enlisted in December 1777, served as sergeant in Capt. William Parker's Company, Colonel Piper's Regiment, length of his service two months, one month of which he had charge of the station at Morrison's Cove in Bedford County, PA, that he volunteered in April 1778, served five days in Capt. William Parker's Company, Colonel John Piper's Regiment and marched up the Juniata River in pursuit of a party of men who were attempting to join the Indians. That he volunteered in June 1779, and served four days in Capt. Samuel Moore's Pennsylvania Company, marched from Moore's Station in Bedford Co. over the mountains to Frankstown in pursuit of Indians. That in July 1780, he enlisted in Ohio Co. VA and served three days in Capt. Joseph Ogle's Company and crossed the Ohio River in pursuit of Indians; that he enlisted in June 1782, and served thirteen days as sergeant in Capt. Boyd's PA Company and again went in pursuit of Indians." (was out 13 days.) He came to Putnam county, Illinois, and there applied for a pension. Andrew passed away on 20 April 1845 in Putnam County, Illinois. He is buried in Union Grove cemetery. “Pension Reports” and “Pennsylvania Archives.”
